CogAT GRADES 1, 2, 3
Designed to enhance critical thinking, problem-solving, and reasoning skills, this dynamic class explores each section of the CogAT to provide targeted instruction and practice. Sections covered: verbal analogies, sentence completion, verbal classification, numbers, number series, quantitative relationships, visual-spatial skills, pattern completion, and figure classification.
HSPT CLASS
Our comprehensive course will tackle a section of the HSPT per class, and will include mini lessons, in-class practice, as well as homework.
ESSAY WRITING CLASS
Intro to Essay Writing I and II: (Grades 3-5 & 6-8)
Our program lays the groundwork for strong writing skills by guiding students through the essential elements of essay composition. Through interactive lessons and an understanding of the CER model for explanatory and persuasive writing, students will learn how to generate ideas, organize their thoughts, and structure clear and cohesive paragraphs. Students will also learn to craft narrative and creative writing pieces. Our experienced educators provide personalized guidance and constructive feedback to help students refine their writing abilities and build confidence with sentence structure, grammar, and vocabulary.
Telling Your Story (Grades 10-12)
Whether you are preparing for college applications or writing for fun, students will have an opportunity to reflect on their personal lives and significant moments that have made them who they are now. Self-reflection is at the heart of personal storytelling. Our class encourages deep introspection and self-exploration, empowering you to uncover insights, themes, and patterns that shape your identity and worldview. By cultivating mindfulness and awareness, you'll gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your life's journey. Students will learn essential strategies from our expert ELA instructors and receive personalized feedback for every step of the writing process to craft an essay from start to finish.
SAT PREPARATION
SAT Foundations Course
Our 10-week comprehensive program is designed for students to review concepts, practice test-taking strategies, and familiarize themselves with common question types on the Digital SAT. Students will complete two full practice tests and target subsections to improve their scores.
SAT Crash Course
This intensive crash course is to prepare students for an upcoming scheduled SAT test. Students will be assigned sections of practice tests for homework and review their answers during each class. Students will utilize a variety of test taking strategies and grow in time awareness, as they improve their test scores.
CHINESE IMMERSION I / II
For beginners (I) and elementary (II) level Chinese language learners: our classes provide a stimulating environment where students engage in authentic conversations, cultural activities, and language exercises. Activities include learning songs, traditions (Mid-Autumn Festival), and developing language proficiency through writing and storytelling.
MATH BOOST: REMEDIAL CLASS
Our remedial class teaches students aged 8-12 the fundamental mathematical skills they need to succeed. In this class, we focus on building a strong mathematical foundation by revisiting key concepts, addressing misconceptions, and fostering confidence in problem-solving abilities.
Grade 3-4 Concepts
Four operations, Geometry, rounding, time and money, coordinate graphs, tables, & plots, and more!
Grade 5-6 Concepts
Fractions, decimals, percents, four operations with fractions & decimals, order of operations, and more!
LITERACY BOOST BOOK CLUB
Students will read a chapter book and engage in weekly discussions and participate in-class assignments about the text. Students will participate in interactive activities and projects.
PRE-ALGEBRA
Our Pre-Algebra class is for students ready to learn, or would benefit from a re-teach of Pre-Algebra, using the Singapore Math approach. Designed to build a strong foundation in algebraic thinking, problem-solving skills, and mathematical reasoning, this class offers a learning experience to prepare students for Algebra.
